Trinity Episcopal Church invites children PK3-5th grade to enter into a deeper and more playful relationship with God every Sunday during the 10:30 am service. After class, children are led by their Godly Play mentors into the church to join their families for communion. Sometimes we're a little late.
The Godly Play method is an imaginative way of telling the stories of the Bible using multisensory materials. The stories and lessons are presented "chronologically" and in sync with the liturgical year, within a routine that mirrors the pattern of Christian worship.
The curriculum offers a religious language that deepens a child's knowledge of God through the stories of scripture, lessons about liturgy, and theological reflection called "wondering."
In a setting that surrounds children with stories of faith made visible, each class focuses on one story and the opportunity to wonder aloud about its connection with the child's own life. Children work hands-on with the stories of their choice, learning and reflecting - individually or in small groups - using art materials such as watercolor, collage, or clay. We often close with a "feast" where the children learn how to serve and how to be served.
As with any spiritual practice, consistency is key.
When and where do the children gather for Godly Play?
The children are welcomed into the classroom beginning at 10:25 am and class begins at 10:30 am. Please walk your child directly to their respective classroom. A Godly Play mentor will be standing outside of the classroom to greet you, welcome your child, and help them "get ready". Doors open at 10:25 am. Please be on time.
Godly Play classrooms are divided into three developmentally appropriate age groups:
- GP1 is our Primary Community: PK3 - K
- GP2 is our Elementary Community: 1st - 2nd Grade
- GP3 is our Advanced Elementary Community: 3rd - 5th Grade

The Acolyte Ministry at Trinity Episcopal Church is a vibrant ministry for rising 5th-12th grade youth. Acolytes recognize their service as an offering to God by assisting the clergy and making a contribution to the spiritual life of the congregation. This ministry serves as a youth formation opportunity where students learn and grow together in service to the community. Youth can receive service hours. Contact Ashley Bond if you or a young person you know is looking to serve. As part of our Youth Confirmation Program, all candidates will serve on an Acolyte Team for one year leading up to confirmation.
