The Reverend Alyce Jefferson

Alyce was born in New Orleans and received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. She worked as a legal secretary and paralegal prior to serving on staff as Director of Children's Ministries from July 2006 until she retired in late May of 2015. She was ordained as a vocational deacon on December 27, 2008 by Bishop Charles E. Jenkins at Christ Church Cathedral.

Alyce serves in Kairos Prison Ministry both inside and outside: inside at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women in St. Gabriel, LA and outside to females 20 years and older in Louisiana with incarcerated family or friends. She advocates for children in the foster care system as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Court. She also trains and schedules Eucharistic Visitors in our parish, as well as administers the diocesan Eucharistic Visiting hospital ministry at three local hospitals - East Jefferson General Hospital, Ochsner and Touro.
