Now during those days, when the disciples were increasing in number, the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of food. And the twelve called together the whole community of the disciples and said, ‘It is not right that we should neglect the word of God in order to wait at tables. Therefore, friends, select from among yourselves seven men of good standing, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this task, while we, for our part, will devote ourselves to prayer and to serving the word.’
-Acts 6:1-4
Recently, during the Trinity men's prayer breakfast, Father John discussed Saul on the road to Damascus. I have had “calls“ I want to share with you all, my beloved Trinity family!
Years ago, I received a phone call from Susan Bright here at church, asking me to come help with some art work. Of course, being so self-important and “busy“, I haughtily and hastily replied, “I’m an artist, and don’t have time!”
Oh that artistic temperament! Gifted and terrible; contempt prior to investigation which is my life long curse!
Then, an inner voice said (really, truly), “Tim, I’m calling you.” In a flash, I apologized and in that instant began my journey of faith into the bosom of my Trinity family. All of you!
My next experience, after Katrina, the horrific terror of the storm, and my dear Dad’s death, my boyhood friend, John Hevron, suggested I join in the Trinity Nicaraguan medical mission. What a gift of healing, gratitude, and humility that was! Another major turning point in my heart and life.
About a year-and-a-half ago, John, again God’s messenger, says to me why not come with me to the men’s prayer breakfast. You might enjoy it. Well little did I know what gifts this would bring to ‘Mr. Busy, Mr. Know-it-all.” Once again, a huge growth spurt in my faith and in my heart and soul! Magnificent terrific “apostles”, wisdom, humor, true kindness, and brotherhood as we learn, share, and grow united by the Holy Spirit . I’m with the finest guys, and hope that when I grow up, to be more like this bunch on THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS together.

Gracious God, I am listening for your call. If it is mine to do, send me! Amen.
