‘No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old cloak; otherwise, the patch pulls away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins; but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins.’
-Mark 2: 21,22
God is always pushing us into places where we can be stretched. To live out our faith is to do just that, "live". An element of the life we live is the need to constantly grow, in our mind, bodies, and souls. The Gospels are filled with stories of Jesus moving in and out of communities and pushing them to rethink and reenter their relationship with the Divine. For many it was too much to take, they chased Jesus out of town while crying "heresy!". However, Jesus lived by example, moving on to the next village and not losing hope in his faith as he began again. I pray that we all see our faith not as a dormant element of our life, peeking out for a few hours every Sunday morning, but an energy source that pushes us through the hard times and on to the next place of growth.
Musical Reflection - New Every Morning - Audrey Assad
O heavenly Father, who hast filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works; that, rejoicing in thy whole creation, we may learn to serve thee with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
