Quiet Confidence

07Oct
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

-Hebrews 1:11

From the time I was a child, I've heard it said: “the Lord works in mysterious ways.” It can sound like a simple phrase, even a cliché. But when life grows heavy, those words become real.

We come to God with prayers; for healing, for peace, for direction, for the needs of those we love. Sometimes the answer is clear, even swift. Other times, the silence stretches, and we wonder if God has heard.

The truth is, God’s purposes are larger than our vision. The answer may come in a way we never imagined. Or it may be hidden from us altogether, woven into a purpose beyond our sight. We may never know how God is working in the moment.

But faith is not knowing every answer. Faith is trusting that nothing is wasted in God’s hands. Every prayer, every struggle, every step forward becomes part of a story written in love.

So we pray, we wait, and we trust; not only in what is seen, but also in the mystery of what is yet to be revealed.

Musical Reflection - Adagio for Strings - Samuel Barber. Detroit Symphony

O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength: By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
