Ash Wednesday is the first of the forty days of Lent, with the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshipers at services. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality, imposed with the sign of the cross and the words, "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return" (BCP, p. 265).
Additional Ash Wednesday Services are scheduled for 12:15pm and 6:00pm.
