Marais Baroque Ensemble: Don Quixote (May 15) The Marais Baroque Ensemble presents themes of chivalry and swordplay with a Spanish flair in the works of Telemann, Albinoni, and Vitali.
Named for the French word for “swamp,” the ensemble explores music from the European world at the time of New Orleans’ 18th-century founding, while honoring the rich culture and natural beauty of Louisiana that existed long before.
Through historically informed performances on replica instruments, the Marais Baroque Ensemble brings new energy to beloved composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, and Telemann, while introducing New Orleans audiences to rarely performed works by Biber, Marais, and Locatelli.
