"Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him." - Matthew 2:13

An angel came to Joseph in a dream before the soldiers arrived. The angel told Joseph to take his little family to another country. They fled far away to the land of Egypt. Mary and the baby rode on the donkey, and Joseph led the way.

Lord, as we await the coming of the Christ child in Bethlehem, may we prepare our hearts to welcome all people that come before us. Help us to shine a light into places of darkness. Help us to do what we can to respond to the injustices of our world. Help us mend all that is broken. Amen.
