Get ready for a first-of-its-kind Mahjong experience in the heart of the French Quarter on the morning of Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the historic Hotel Monteleone.

Mahjong influencer and instructor Molly (Mahjong) Hardy will direct the tournament and speak during lunch, sharing her passion and expert insights.

With 340 players battling for the crown, one lucky winner will take home the title and be crowned “Queen (or King) of New Orleans Mahjong” and win a stunning Mahjong set of their choice from The Mahjong Line (sponsor).

All net proceeds from the NOLA Mahjong Classic will benefit Trinity Loaves & Fishes, a New Orleans-based outreach program that annually serves over 55,000 meals to those in need. Founded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Trinity Loaves & Fishes, a ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church, began as a grassroots effort to feed displaced families and first responders. Over the years, it has grown into a vital community program, delivering bagged lunches, hot meals and hope across the city every single day. Your participation and support helps keep this mission alive—every ticket purchased supports a stronger, more nourished New Orleans.

Between the 2nd and 3rd rounds, enjoy a delicious New Orleans-style buffet lunch, complete with mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar as Molly (Mahjong) Hardy takes the stage as a featured speaker. The event wraps up by 2:30 PM, making it perfect for those looking to shop, eat, drink, and dance in NOLA, as well as those catching evening flights.

The New Orleans Mahjong Classic will follow American Mahjong rules as established by the National Mahjong League. This event is capped at 340 players.

Molly Hardy, Dallas-based Mahjong Instructor

Molly first learned to play Mahjong with mom friends and was immediately hooked. In 2020, Molly started teaching friends and family the game. Using her Master's in Education, she developed a method for teaching this complicated game to new players in a clear and approachable way. Molly loves teaching small and large groups as well as running tournaments. She lives in Dallas with her husband and 3 kids.

Aaron Taylor, Executive Director of Trinity Loaves and Fishes

Aaron will share the inspiring mission an impact of Trinity Loaves and Fishes (TLF). Serving over 55,000 meals annually, TLF provides nourishment and hope to those in need across New Orleans. Through heartfelt stories and impactful insights, Aaron will highlight the program’s work and the power of coming together to make a meaningful difference in the community.

Tickets are inclusive of three rounds of Mahjong, a New Orleans-inspired buffet lunch, and a Mimosa & Bloody Mary bar during the second and third round, all set in the elegant Iberville Ballroom at the historic Hotel Monteleone. This event is expected to sell out fast, priced at $150.00 with only 340 tickets available!
