Baptism Form
About Holy Baptism

The Episcopal Church teaches that infants, children and adults may be baptized. Baptismal vows are made on behalf of infants or young children by their parents and sponsors. Older children and adults make their own promises. Because baptism is the outward and visible action that connects a person to God in a covenant relationship, it belongs in public worship, rather than private ceremony. As such, baptisms are offered in the context of the Holy Eucharist. At the service, members of the congregation renew their own baptismal vows and welcome the newly baptized into the community of faith.

Baptism Dates and Service Times

Trinity administers the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on baptismal feast days recommended in the Book of Common Prayer. In addition to these dates, baptism is also offered in September and July.

The following dates are for the 10:30 am worship service. There is a limit of four baptisms at this service.

Baptisms may also be arranged at the 8:00 am service in the Chapel on these same dates, by request, or if the 10:30 am service of your choice is full. There is a limit of two baptisms at the 8:00 am service.

Special Request

Two baptisms can be accommodated at this service.

Baptism Preparation

To fulfill the charge in The Book of Common Prayer which states that “parents and godparents are to be instructed in the meaning of baptism, in their duties to help the new Christians grow in the knowledge and love of God, and in their responsibilities as members of his Church,” participation in a 1.5 hour preparation workshop is required for parents and  godparents. Godparents who live out of town participate via Zoom.

Baptism workshops take place throughout the year on a Sunday after the 10:30 am worship service. Participants will be notified of the day and time in advance.

Parents and godparents will have the opportunity to explore the meaning of the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and the commitment they are making, study the liturgy itself, and meet other baptismal families. The workshop also includes the Godly Play Holy Baptism presentation, which is a rich resource for baptism preparation and serves as an open invitation for participants to wonder openly and freely about the sacrament. It is also a gentle introduction for participants who may have been raised with a different pedagogy.

Our church nursery is available upon request. Nursing infants are welcome to attend with parents, as well as children/siblings 4 years and older.
