Daily Meditation: February 12, 2020

For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly.

-Mark 7:21-22

In Godly Play, it's so important that we get our hearts, minds, and bodies ready for the story. To do this, we take a few deep breaths to settle into our bodies, close our eyes, and listen for the silence deep within our hearts. Silence is the first language of God. We invite God into our hearts, our circle, our work together. When we hear the silence, God's voice, we place our hands on our hearts. Then, we are ready.

When we check-in through the heart, surrender to the silence and listen for God, evil intentions fade away and what comes is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

"Holy, God, I know you are LOVE.  Help me to breathe deeply of your love this day and enjoy the refreshment of your goodness within me. Amen."
