Diversity is defined as the presence of differences, variety, and the mixture of distinct elements within a group. It encompasses all the characteristics that make individuals unique.
For several years, the month of June has been set aside to celebrate diversity within the LGBTQ+ community.
Inclusive Louisiana, the LGBTQ+ ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana, has completed a month of celebration that affirmed and recognized the gifts of this vibrant community.
Inclusive Louisiana continues to celebrate this diversity because Jesus calls us all to love our neighbor. It is a reminder that Love Wins. Always.
Pride Mass occurred on June 4, with Bishop Shannon preaching and me serving as celebrant.
We also marched in the New Orleans Pride parade on June 13 with 75 Episcopalians and a large number of clergy and, as always, experienced an overwhelming welcome from those attending the parade.
And on June 27, another large group of Episcopalians gathered in Baton Rouge for the Pride Festival.
Inclusive Louisiana continues to celebrate this diversity because Jesus calls us all to love our neighbor.
It is a reminder that Love Wins. Always.
