TLF Connects with Students

During the week there are three shifts entirely made-up of students and teachers from local community schools.

On Thursday mornings you can find the Trinity Episcopal School students hard at work making sandwiches at organizing to-go bags. We are so grateful to longtime teacher Grace Perez, who set-up the program for her students to volunteer! She also worked with the student council to organize a peanut butter and jelly drive, allowing TLF to dramatically cut costs on purchasing supplies. The peanut butter and jelly sandwich expense is now $0.00! The school has literally donated hundreds of pounds of supplies to the program, which is an incredible blessing!

In early February, TLF began a partnership with Audubon Charter School – Uptown. Now one month in, middle school students and their teacher come twice a week by city bus. So far, 30 students have made a little over 600 sandwiches! Additionally, the elementary students are very involved in their art classes decorating brown bags. On Valentine's Day, when the school celebrated 'Grandparents Day', students and their grandparents decorated bags, painted cards with words of encouragement inside, and even included poetry! TLF is striving to have all brown bags decorated before use.
