For starters, I’m in 8th grade:

08May
Have mercy on me, O God, for my enemies are hounding me; all day long they assault and oppress me. They hound me all the day long; truly there are many who fight against me, O Most High. Whenever I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust and will not be afraid, for what can flesh do to me?
- Psalm 56:1-4

For starters, I’m in 8th grade.

I know what it’s like to feel hounded by ‘enemies.’ and feel like I'm being attacked all day long at school. It feels like everyone is out to get me, even though I know everyone else is likely feeling the exact way I am. When I get these feelings, It is helpful to me to remind myself that these times will pass, that if I put my faith in God and work hard, I will make it to a place where these things cannot hurt me.

Sometimes I look around at my classmates, (and sometimes even teachers,) and wonder why God doesn’t just smite them down. However, I know that wouldn’t be fair, and I can’t rely on a metaphysical force to fight all my battles for me. But seriously, would it hurt to smite my history teacher just a little?

Musical Reflection - Better than Revenge - Taylor Swift

All Knowing God, help me to be so grounded in my trust in you, that no enemy - even the ones within - have no power over me. Give me quiet confidence to face my challenges at school and in life, assured that you are with me always. Amen.
