Gethsemane moments

It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many children to glory, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

- Hebrews 2:10

My mother had an expression when the trials of life would encroach upon our daily lives. She called them “Gethsemane moments.” It was during those times that she and my dad passionately sought the face of God for direction, revelation, and deliverance. Growing up our parents concerns were transparent to my brother and me. After all we were busy being children. In retrospect, however, I can now understand how our family benefitted from those times of challenge. It was in those moments of trial that they were being called to experience a greater awareness of the activity of God in our lives through the power and presence of Holy Spirit as manifested in Jesus the Christ. There is power in the name of Jesus who reconciles us to the Father, revealing his glory in our lives through the power of overcoming.
