He will be with us. God will light our way.

17May
Your word is a lantern to my feet and a light upon my path. I have sworn and am determined to keep your righteous judgments. I am deeply troubled; preserve my life, O Lord, according to your word. Accept, O Lord, the willing tribute of my lips, and teach me your judgments.
- Psalm 119:105-108

May is a sentimental month for me. I remember very clearly being in church 15 plus years ago on Mother’s Day feeling a little sad and asking God if I will ever be able to be a mother. Gordo and I had already been married five years, and I was very anxious to know God’s plan for me.

Today I am less than two weeks away from my twin girls turning 14. It is the end of another school year. Time seems to be moving so quickly these days. My head is full of dizzying thoughts and questions for God as I try to figure out how to navigate the world as a parent of teenagers. Each day is an emotional roller coaster, and I just hope to do my best to help my family along their paths.

Today’s scripture reminds me that I am not in any of this alone. God’s word is the light for all of our paths. We don’t always know the plan, but if we put our trust in God and take those first steps in faith, He will be with us. God will light our way.

Musical Reflection - Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet - Amy Grant

Thank you, God, for showing me so many times how worthy you are of my trust. Please help me to always take my first steps forward with trust in you even in times that I cannot see the way. Amen.
