Ready for Advent

02Dec
May the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace as you trust him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
-Romans 15:13

As we are now in Advent, I write this meditation with an open heart and mind to let the peace of God flow over me during this beautiful, but hectic season. We are wrapping up the last month of 2024 with parties and celebrations, preparing for the holidays with family and friends, buying presents, wrapping them, decorating your tree and home, cooking, preparing for house guests. It is overwhelming, but isn’t it a season of joy?

If you need to find a moment of peace during Advent, I encourage you to attend one of Trinity’s Home Eucharists. There are three opportunities during Advent to go to a parishioner’s home, to gather and worship with a small group of church family and a chance to reconnect with familiar faces or meet someone new. I have hosted and attended home eucharists for the last 6 years. It is lovely. It is quiet. It is peaceful. It is a beautiful time to connect with God. If you are interested in attending, here is the link to register.

I hope you find your own peace during the season of Advent:

Reflect on its meaning and prepare for the celebration that comes with it.
Make time each day to nurture your inner peace.
Establish new traditions, perhaps attending a Home Eucharist.

Advent is a time to prepare to celebrate Jesus' life and the peace he brings. In a world that feels heavy with need, remind us of God’s promise to come again and make things new.

Lord, as we enter this season of Advent, we eagerly await the coming of your Son. Fill our hearts with hope, love and peace and prepare us to welcome the light of his presence in our lives. Amen.
