Trust

17Sep
Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.
From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

-Psalm 61:1-3

As I write this, I realize that the recent past has a difficult time for New Orleans and Trinity parishioners. We all dealt with Hurricane Francine and the worries that any hurricane brings to us. Additionally, of late we have lost multiple Trinity members: Sally and Walter Cockerham, Martin de Laureal, and Lucie Harris. The Cockerhams were dear longtime friends, as was “Stick” de Laureal. Lucie Harris was my 3rd grade teacher at Trinity. Individually these were all sad losses. Collectively and in a short time period, I admit that they really got me down.

In times of difficulty, worry, and grief, we can lean on our family and friends. But we should also trust in God. I hope that you also found Psalms comforting this week.

Musical Reflection - Drop, Drop Slow Tears - Gibbons performed by VOCES8

Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.

Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Amen.

-Psalm 62:6-8
