What if it was simple

09May
But now, dear lady, I ask you, not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning, let us love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment just as you have heard it from the beginning—you must walk in it.
- 2 John 5,6

What if it really is that simple? Love your neighbor as yourself! What would happen if you let love rule your worldview instead of fear or hatred? What if love is, actually, all around us?

How would you live your life differently?

How would you show your neighbor (who may be different than you) love towards them and their family?

Could we even start our mornings differently by showing God that we love Him? Instead of immediately flipping on the news or social media or our to-list on our phones, what if we started our day with loving God?

What if it’s even just as simple as waving to your neighbor in traffic when they let you in? Or giving a smile to the children you encounter? Or giving a person at work the benefit of the doubt as the default, instead of assuming the worst?

Today’s challenge: turn on the song below, close your eyes, and use the time of the song to envision how you could live your day showing love to the world around you. Hugging your family members. Telling someone you love them. Greeting others with a smile when you’re out in the world. Waving to thank the drivers behind you. And starting your day loving God, and being grateful for another day to show love in the world.

Musical Reflection - All You Need is Love - The Beatles

Thank you God for a beautiful day. One where we can love others as you have loved us. Thank you for reminding us every day of your love for us. Amen.
