The Rector Search Committee is pleased to provide this first update on our work. We have created this webpage to keep the congregation informed throughout the search process. As new information becomes available, we will post updates here and notify the congregation by email.
Since being appointed, the committee has been actively engaged in laying the foundation for a thoughtful and prayerful search.
Early in the process, we hired Judy Stark, an experienced search consultant who has spent more than twenty years assisting churches and dioceses in the search for priests, rectors, and bishops. Judy has been an invaluable guide as we begin this important work.
We also participated in a full-day orientation with Judy and Morgan MacIntire, the Diocese’s Canon to the Ordinary, to learn the diocesan search requirements and gain a clear understanding of the process ahead.
One of our first priorities has been listening. Through the Holy Cow! parish survey and twelve listening sessions—three open to the entire congregation and nine focused on specific ministries, staff, and church groups—we have gathered a wealth of information about Trinity’s strengths, opportunities, and hopes for the future.
Over the past several weeks, the committee has been carefully reviewing and distilling this feedback, which is serving as the foundation for both our Parish Profile and our Vocation Hub presentation.
Our current focus is preparing these two important documents. The Vocation Hub presentation is how Trinity will introduce itself to prospective rector candidates across The Episcopal Church, while the Parish Profile will provide a more complete picture of our parish, our ministries, and our life together.
We have chosen to create the Parish Profile in an electronic format that includes video, allowing prospective candidates to experience the vitality of Trinity in a more personal and engaging way.
Looking ahead, our goal is to complete the written portions of these materials by early September. A professional videographer has been engaged to produce the video content, much of which will be recorded as fall church activities resume.
After review and approval by both the Vestry and the Diocese, we hope to publish the Vocation Hub presentation and Parish Profile in mid-October. Candidate applications will then be accepted through Thanksgiving, after which the committee will begin reviewing applications and conducting interviews.
We are grateful for the time, thoughtfulness, and honesty so many of you have contributed through the survey and listening sessions. Your participation has been invaluable in helping us understand who we are as a parish and what qualities we seek in our next rector.
Please continue to keep this search—and all those involved—in your prayers. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Barbara or John at any time.
Your Search Committee,
Barbara Waller (Co-chair), John Fay (Co-chair), Zonnie Breckinridge, Ted George, Nancy Gunn, Dave Moore, Suzanne Perlis, Pearson Smith, Mark Williamson, Andrew Wooten
