Solar Power, Shared Purpose

Through Together New Orleans’ Community Solar initiative, Trinity is helping connect neighbors with cleaner energy, lower electricity costs, and a practical way to care for creation.

Dear Trinity Family,

I’m excited to share something meaningful taking shape right here in New Orleans—and to invite you to be part of it.

Trinity is a member institution of Together New Orleans (TNO), a local nonprofit working to expand access to affordable clean energy across our city.

This fall, we’re proud to participate actively in one of its signature initiatives: Community Solar.

So, what is Community Solar? Simply put, it allows New Orleanians to benefit from solar energy without installing panels on their own roofs. A solar array is currently being built on Dwyer Road on land generously hosted by the Sisters of the Holy Family.

Subscribers receive credits directly on their Entergy bills based on their share of the power produced. These credits can reduce the electricity portion of a subscriber’s bill by 10–20%. Nothing about how electricity reaches your home changes, and there is no long-term commitment required.

This project is good for our neighbors, good for our city, and good for the earth we’ve been entrusted to care for. It means cleaner air in our neighborhoods and lower energy costs for families. That feels very much like the kind of work we’re called to do together, especially during this season of Creation Care.

This project is good for our neighbors, good for our city, and good for the earth we’ve been entrusted to care for.

Here’s where you come in. As a member institution, Trinity has committed to enrolling at least 100 people in the program. From September 20 through October 4, we’re launching a congregation-wide enrollment effort—and we’ll need your help.

Whether you’d like to enroll, spread the word, or volunteer to assist neighbors with the sign-up process, there is a place for you in this work.

Solar Captains will be available after services on September 20 to answer questions, explain the program, and help you sign up.

With gratitude and excitement for what we can do together,

Michelle Cox
