Are we truly doing the things Jesus told us to do?

Take away from me the noise of your songs.
To the melody of your harps I will not listen
But let justice roll down like waters
and righteousness like an ever flowing stream. 
- Amos 5:23-24


The prophets, like Amos, were always reminding people of what was important. It is possible to get side tracked by the unimportant. Beautiful church buildings are wonderful. So is beautiful liturgy. How thrilling it is to hear magnificent anthems in our worship. If this is all we care about then we have missed the message. Our faith calls us to bigger things.

 

We are people who are called to share our wealth, to feed the poor, to stand up for what is right. One cannot read the words and actions of Jesus without realizing this was his ultimate message. The question we need to ask ourselves is: Are we truly doing the things Jesus told us to do?  


If not, it is never too late to start.
