O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary,
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wond'ring love.
O morning stars, together,
Proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to all on earth!
Hymnal 79
The season of Christmas is filled with rich and beautiful images. On this Christmas Day, may the simplicity of Madonna and Child help dispel the fears of the world, and restore hope in your heart and in your homes. May the everlasting light illuminate your path for the coming year, and may the holy birth which we now proclaim bring peace to our earth.
Musical Reflection - Mary Had a Baby - Robert Shaw Chorale
O God, you have caused this holy night to shine with the brightness of the true Light: Grant that we, who have known the mystery of that Light on earth, may also enjoy him perfectly in heaven; where with you and the Holy Spirit he lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
